Fairleigh Dickinson University's Center for Cybersecurity and Information Assurance (CCIA) is pleased to announce its 4th Annual Symposium on Cybersecurity and Information Assurance to be held on Wednesday, September 28, 2016 in Lenfell Hall, The Mansion of the Florham Campus. This year's theme is Internet of Things (IoT) and Cybersecurity, indicating how government authorities and the private sector partner to prevent, detect, and mitigate cyber-attacks on a 30-50 billion diverse set of devices expected to be connected to the internet by 2020. Each of these devices will collect massive amounts of data, and as these devices become more sophisticated they may make intelligent decisons autonomously about sharing that information with other internet-capable devices. At the same time, unauthorized data gathering and mal-use through massive IoT networks poses a major challenge to the security of the nation's infrastructure of connected healthcare systems, power grids, communication systems, transportation systems, and defense systems. This symposium will feature distinguished speakers offering their perspectives on application domains of IoT, use of big data analytics and artificial intelligence for autonomous decisions, associated security risks, and their mitigations. Our Keynote Speaker, Ron Ross, Fellow at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), will share his extensive experience in Risk Management Framework, and ideas on the important roles security personnel, private citizens and academics need to play to avoid major cyber disasters on critical information infrastructures.

Attendees will predominantly include government, industry, and academic representatives, and is open to the public.
