Traditionally, load and performance testing have been done using protocol-based tools like JMeter, primarily for the easy scalability of generating load from a small number of machines. But this approach has meant that we only get a partial view of performance, since the browser is skipped over for the sake of stressing the backend.
With Taurus, an open source tool designed for modern performance testing, we can now utilize Selenium scripts for testing web and mobile performance, finally gauging performance under load for realistic front end experience.
In this talk, well introduce Taurus and show how Selenium scripts can be run at scale in both an at your desk style as well as in continuous delivery pipelines. Well leverage the cloud for larger tests with an on-demand performance lab thats entirely automated.
Well also touch on combining tools like JMeter, Gatling, and Selenium into robust suites of performance tests that give us full visibility into how our apps respond under load.
