About Sara Weinheimer

Social activism around female entrepreneurship has been an ongoing theme in my life. Straight out of UC Berkeley, I joined a solar energy startup in San Francisco, a formative experience that motivated me to get an MBA. As a bond trader on Wall St. (Goldman Sachs), I formed strong connections with other female Wall St. professionals, which led to my membership in 85 Broads (now Ellevate), and to joining Golden Seeds, an investment firm with a mission to invest in early stage, female-led technology startups. Passionate about supporting female founders, my angel investing activities have included: leading financings, serving on the BOD of startups, and investing in a portfolio of over thirty companies, half of which are in female-led tech startups.

As Founder/Executive Producer of BroadMic, a digital media startup with a mission to accelerate diversity in entrepreneurship, I am leveraging media to scale mentorship and to fill a 'white space' in the entrepreneurial ecosystem for underrepresented founders.

In mid-2015, I won the OgilvyOne competition for best "Social Innovator". The prize was a two week pro-bono design sprint, out of which came the prototype for BroadMic.

Launched March 1, 2016, Broadmic is a weekly podcast series with a mission to help society thrive by accelerating diversity in entrepreneurship. How many times have you seen or listened to an entrepreneur profiled in the media as a white-male, hoodie-wearing, unicorn-hunting Stanford engineer?" A digital media startup, BroadMic challenges this stereotype by spotlighting the unique accomplishments of industry-leading female entrepreneurs and investors, initially via a serial podcast with host, Kelly Hoey. BroadMic addresses the 4% bottleneck in venture funding for female founders, a statistic that demonstrates the need for change.

BroadMic Startup Shortcuts made iTunes "New & Noteworthy" within its first month of launch.
