EVENT DETAILS
Conversations is a series of events focused on open discussions on the changing new media landscape. Our events will feature panels with insights from the most respected news organizations, the newest disruptive publishers, and tech and media thought leaders. Through conversations, let's work to transform media together. This event, brought to you by the Daily News Innovation Lab in collaboration with Google News Lab and NYC Media Lab, will provide an overview of trends in the VR and 360 space. The evening will kick off with a presentation by Tom Small (Google) on global trends in immersive content creation and a look at the tech that is being used in the field. Additional case studies from Paul Cheung (Associated Press), Sarah Hill (StoryUP Studios VR) and freelance journalist Marcelle Hopkins will follow, offering practical tips on what has been done, what has worked and what lessons have been learned in the process. The event will conclude with a panel conversation moderated by Justin Hendrix of NYC Media Lab, discussing where VR storytelling is going and how it will impact traditional journalism. As a primer on this topic, check out "Exploring Future Reality", a special report from NYC Media Lab focusing on the impact of virtual and augmented reality on the media and technology industries.
